GIUSEPPE FABRIS
Natural inks
Fabris simultaneously explores personal memory and that preserved within the materials, examining the transmission of gestures and the way in which forms, colours and surfaces coexist to generate new sensory landscapes. His works transform the exhibition space into a place of respite, where colour, texture and volume establish a continuous dialogue. Straddling the poetic, the pragmatic and the political, Giuseppe Fabris invites us to slow down our gaze: his works are etched into the memory as presences that are at once familiar and unexpected, bearing witness to a constant attention to the world and its history.
Fabris uses natural colours which are derived from simple water infusions of wild herbs, soil, fruit, vegetables, spices and flowers. Each element is filtered through a sieve and poured into a glass jar; inside the lid is a piece of card showing the colour sample, so that a wide range of colours are obtained, each one with subtle tonal variations and gradients, individually
distinct from the next.
